The latest general happenings in my life.

Updated mid December, 2025.

Where

After a couple weeks in Japan last month, eating myself into oblivion, I am now spending the winter driving up and down Baja, Mexico. My husband, our dog, and I are living off-grid in a small truck camper.

It’s a bit of a liminal existence, as instead of carrying all our belongings with us in our ‘full’ turtle shell home (a 32’ ft trailer), we actually had to (horrors of horrors) pack and choose what our creating outlets would be during this time. I hope to get more writing in for The Dirtbag Dao, so keep an eye out there.

Creating

I recently contributed an article about vehicle nomadism to Issue 18 of The New Escapologist, which can be purchased digitally or physically.

I’m away from most of my felting supplies, but still stabbing away on some smaller form pieces, to be shared at a later time.

Existing

Mostly being present. Listening to waves at night as I lie in bed. The other night we sat outside in the dark on the beach and gazed at all the constellations in their winter positions. Flanked by cactus-covered hills behind us and rocky mountains across la Bahía Concepción, we sat in a dark bowl, water puddled at the bottom and the Milky Way stretching across the top. Stars almost as good as our little patch of land in Colorado, which I miss dearly but we can’t stay at for winter without real shelter. But missing it goes against being in the present, so instead I watch birds dive into the water and little yellow butterflies flit across the roads. I meditate so I may transcend the sensation of itchiness and won’t scratch my bug bites. Then I scratch my bug bites.
